Job summary

Pangea Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Field Service Engineer to cover the UK only, supporting food equipment installations, commissioning, servicing and diagnostics across the Midlands, EMids, Yorkshire and other regions. The role offers a £50K basic salary plus bonus, overtime, car, pension and healthcare, with progression to senior technician.

The successful candidate will be highly customer facing, travel regularly across the UK and Ireland with occasional international visits for supplier

Qualifications

  • Hands-on engineering background in field service or maintenance.
  • Apprentice trained or time-served in electrical, mechanical, or multi-skilled engineering.
  • Strong fault-finding in electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience with production machinery or automated equipment.
  • Willing to travel UK, Ireland, and occasionally internationally.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence.

We are seeking a Service Technician to join the End Of Line Inspection and automation division supporting the range of suppliers we represent.

The Role:

This is a customer-focused high-level service technician role within the food manufacturing sector. This position would suit an engineer who is looking to develop a long-term career within a growing business, with opportunities to build technical knowledge, customer relationships and specialist equipment expertise.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality service support to customers across the UK and Ireland, with occasional international travel for supplier visits and training. They will need to be technically strong, commercially aware, flexible, and committed to delivering first-class customer service.

Essential Skills:
  • We require a hands-on engineering, maintenance, field service or technical support background, looking to develop a long-term career in a customer facing service role.
  • Apprentice trained or time-served in a relevant electrical, mechanical or multi-skilled engineering discipline.
  • Have strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills, ideally with an electrical bias.
  • Understand pneumatic and electrical control systems.
  • Have experience working on production machinery, automated equipment or technical systems.
  • Experience of EOL inspection systems, regulations, standards and vision systems advantageous.
  • Be confident diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs and following technical issues through to conclusion.
  • Ideally have previous field service experience, although strong site-based maintenance engineers will also be considered.
  • Have experience in food manufacturing, food processing or packaging machinery, which would be an advantage.
  • Be comfortable working directly with customers in a professional and supportive manner.
  • Have strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
  • Be self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently for extended periods.
  • Take pride in delivering first-class service and building strong customer relationships.
  • Be organised, reliable and able to complete service reports and documentation accurately.
  • Be comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel and wider Microsoft platforms.
  • Ideally have experience uploading or downloading software to machine components, PLCs/HMIs or similar systems.
  • Be flexible and willing to travel regularly across the UK and Ireland, with overnight stays when required.
  • Be willing to travel internationally for supplier visits or training where necessary.
  • Hold a full, clean UK driving licence, which is essential.
