Job summary

TalentTech Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support a UK & Ireland materials preparation and testing machinery supplier. The role covers servicing, breakdown repairs, and on-site support in lab and industrial environments.

You will travel to customer sites across Barnsley and surrounding regions, performing electrical and mechanical fault-finding and enabling remote diagnostics when possible. A company vehicle is provided.

Qualifications

• Experience with electrical fault-finding and mechanical/electrical systems.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.
• Driving licence and right to work in the UK are required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct ppm, service, and breakdown repairs to equipment found in materials testing and preparation labs.
• Be hands‑on with mechanical and electrical equipment, along with some electronic fault‑finding.
• Visit manufacturing and research facilities and perform remote diagnostics where needed.

They're seeking a field service engineer to join an existing team.

Your Role as a Field Service Engineer

• Conducting ppm, service, and breakdown repairs to equipment found in materials testing and preparation labs.
• Being hands‑on with mechanical and electrical equipment, along with some electronic fault‑finding.
• Visiting some desirable manufacturing and research facilities.
• You'll be accessing some equipment remotely too to carry out diagnostics.

Ideal Background for the Field Service Engineer Position

• You’ll have a good engineering understanding from a mechanical and electrical perspective.
• This role would also suit an engineer from the armed forces.
• The service manager is ex‑forces too.
• Existing field service experience is advantageous.
• Excellent communication & teamwork skills.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Right to work in the UK as no sponsorship provided.
