Job summary

Mitsubishi Power EMEA is seeking a Field Service Apprentice for a 4-year contract to learn and contribute to maintenance of gas and steam turbines and related equipment. You will split time between structured study and hands-on work at customer sites and service locations in the UK and beyond.

You’ll learn to diagnose faults, perform safe disassembly and reassembly, and gain practical fitting and turbine-blading skills under supervision. This role emphasises safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Interest in mechanical engineering, maintenance and hands-on technical work.
• GCSE English and Maths at grade 9–4 or A–C, or Level 2 Functional Skills.
• Practical, methodical approach to problem-solving.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality and following instructions.
• Reliability, integrity and the ability to work as part of a team.
• Clear communication and willingness to ask questions when unsure.
• Flexibility to travel to customer sites, including overseas.
• Engineering study or Level 2 qualification is helpful but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support planned maintenance and outage work on gas turbines, steam turbines, valves and related equipment.
• Assist with safe disassembly, inspection, repair and reassembly of mechanical equipment.
• Learn to use engineering drawings, specifications and maintenance documentation correctly.
• Develop practical fitting, measurement, fault-finding and turbine-blading skills under supervision.
• Follow Mitsubishi Power procedures, quality standards, site rules and safe systems of work.
• Record work accurately and raise concerns, defects or unsafe conditions promptly.
• Work positively with colleagues, customers, contractors and local site teams.
• Travel to customer sites in the UK and potentially elsewhere in Europe.
