Job summary

First Military Recruitment is partnering with a client seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team in Dundee on a full-time, permanent basis. The role collaborates with electronics, controls, software and field teams to create robust mechanical systems for demanding outdoor environments.

Responsibilities include taking designs from concept through prototype, verification, field testing and release for manufacture, with a focus on manufacture, service and cost

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline, or equivalent demonstrable experience.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the mechanical design of harvesting equipment subsystems.
• Take responsibility for designs from concept to manufacturing release.
• Produce and maintain engineering drawings and change logs.
• Apply design-for-manufacture and design-for-cost principles for production.
• Develop mechanical solutions that integrate with electrical, controls and software.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve design challenges.
• Attend field commissioning campaigns to diagnose issues and drive improvements.
• Support supplier engagement for fabrication and assembly.
• Build relationships with manufacturing partners.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and production-ready equipment.
