Job summary

National Gas is seeking an Operations Technician to maintain electrical, instrumentation, control, and operational technology assets across multiple sites. You’ll diagnose faults, restore equipment performance, and support PLC/SCADA and industrial network systems to ensure reliable network operations.

Based in the West Midlands & South West region, the role is site-based, with regular travel across Bristol, Gloucester, Worcester, and South Birmingham.

Qualifications

• Experience in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Control Systems, OT, Automation, or Cyber environments.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Experience with industrial equipment and control systems.
• Commitment to safety, reliability, and engineering standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain electrical, instrumentation, control, and OT assets across multiple sites.
• Diagnose faults and restore equipment performance.
• Support PLC, SCADA, control, and industrial network systems.
• Carry out inspections, testing, and planned maintenance activities.
• Assist in implementing OT and cyber security controls.
• Collaborate with contractors and engineers to deliver safe solutions.
• Participate in a standby rota after training.
