Job summary

Gi Group is hiring Meter Readers to collect data from gas, electricity and water meters for commercial and residential properties. You’ll use a handheld device to update reads throughout the day and provide excellent customer service.

The role offers 40–45 hours per week, flexible start/finish times (Mon–Fri, occasional Saturdays), with a base rate of £13.49 per hour and potential earnings of £27,000–£30,000 annually including bonuses.

Qualifications

• Manual UK Driving Licence – Minimum 1 year, maximum 6 points, NO DR Offences.
• Physically fit and able to bend in tight spaces, lift, kneel, climb stairs, crouch, and walk 4–5 miles daily.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
• Clear DBS check (no unspent criminal convictions).
• Credit report check (No county court judgements, IVA, debt relief orders in last 6 years).
• 5 years of employment history.
• Previous customer service experience (preferred, not essential).

Responsibilities

• Retrieving data from domestic, commercial, and industrial meters (Water, Gas, Electricity).
• Carry out visual inspections of metering equipment.
• Charge point surveys.
• Drive and maintain motivation to work independently.
• Maintain a friendly, professional approach and adhere to Health & Safety guidelines.
