Field Manager – Technical Field Workforce (Home/NW Region Based)

We are recruiting an experienced Field Manager to lead and develop a team of technical field engineers delivering installation and service work across the North West region. This is a hands‑on leadership position ideal for someone who thrives in field service operations, technical workforce management, and engineer performance coaching.

The Role

You will oversee the daily running of a technical field workforce, ensuring engineers are supported, jobs are completed safely, and service‑level agreements are consistently achieved. The role requires strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a fast‑paced field service environment covering workforce planning, operational performance, compliance, and on‑the‑day decision‑making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading daily roll‑call, absence management, and overall workforce readiness
  • Driving performance to meet high job completion rates while resolving issues in real time
  • Conducting quality, safety, and compliance reviews, including photo sign‑offs and audit checks
  • Delivering weekly performance reviews, one‑to‑one coaching, and development plans
  • Managing stock, tools, equipment, and job preparedness for all field operatives
  • Supporting onboarding processes and ensuring engineers have correct system access, PPE, and work equipment
  • Providing day‑to‑day operational escalation support to maintain service delivery
  • Ensuring all activities align with health and safety legislation and industry best practice
What You’ll Bring
  • Proven experience managing field‑based engineers within technical trades, utilities, metering, FM, or similar field service sectors
  • Strong operational leadership with a focus on performance management, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance
  • Confidence in coaching, mentoring, and positively challenging teams to improve delivery standards
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills with the ability to make quick, safe, and effective decisions
  • Comfortable working in a service‑driven, high‑volume, fast‑moving operations environment
