Job summary

Octane is seeking a field-based engineer to service, maintain and install commercial fuel infrastructure across the UK. You will diagnose faults, repair mechanical and electronic systems, and assist with commissioning new fuel facilities.

The role requires independent work, strong problem-solving, and excellent customer service. Travel nationwide and occasional overnight stays are expected; an emergency call-out rota is included.

Qualifications

• Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering experience.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience servicing, maintenance and repairs on industrial or commercial equipment.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Willingness to travel nationwide, including overnight stays.
• Willingness to participate in an out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.
• Experience with fuel management systems and tank gauging equipment.
• Pipefitting with steel, stainless steel or fusion-welded plastic pipework.
• Mechanical engineering qualifications.
• Confined Space certification.
• Safety Passport.
• CSCS Card.
• Previous field service engineering experience within industrial environments.

Responsibilities

• Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance of commercial fuel dispensing equipment and associated infrastructure.
• Diagnose, fault find and repair mechanical and electronic fuel dispensing systems.
• Service and maintain fuel pumps, dispensers, fuel management systems, tank gauges and tank probes.
• Assist with installation and commissioning of new and refurbished fuel storage and dispensing facilities.
• Verify and calibrate commercial fuel dispensers.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance programmes.
• Carry out customer site surveys.
• Maintain accurate service reports and commissioning documentation.
• Manage company vehicle stock and equipment.
• Work safely in accordance with procedures and industry standards, including confined space work.
• Deliver a professional, customer-focused service at all times.
• Travel nationwide with occasional overnight stays; participate in an out-of-hours emergency rota.
