Job summary

Waste Investigations Support & Enforcement (WISE) is recruiting Environmental Enforcement Officers in Gedling for a front-line role spent mainly on foot patrols, identifying offences and issuing Fixed Penalty Notices. The position is outdoors, requires independence, and aims to protect local communities.

We offer a full-time contract at £13.45 per hour, 40 hours weekly, with 28 days of annual leave, a pension scheme, full uniform and training provided, plus overtime and progression

Qualifications

• Clear communication skills in public settings.
• Ability to stay calm in challenging conversations.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Basic IT/report writing abilities.
• Reliable, proactive and detail-focused.
• Ability to work independently and follow procedures.
• Driving licence preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Patrol busy town centres, residential streets and high-footfall areas.
• Identify offences such as littering, dog fouling and fly-tipping.
• Approach offenders confidently and issue Fixed Penalty Notices.
• Educate the public on environmental responsibilities.
• Record evidence, statements and reports accurately in systems.
• Work independently while supported by the enforcement team.
