Job summary

Waste Investigations Support & Enforcement (WISE) is seeking Environmental Enforcement Officers to conduct foot patrols, identify environmental offences and issue Fixed Penalty Notices. The role involves working outdoors, across busy town centres and residential streets, with training provided and a permanent full-time contract.

You will record evidence, liaise with the public, and operate within a supportive enforcement team.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills and a confident, professional manner.
• Resilience and the ability to handle challenging conversations calmly.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Basic IT skills (report writing).
• Reliable, proactive and detail-focused.
• Ability to work independently and follow procedures.
• A driving licence is preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Starting your day by heading out on foot patrol across busy town centres and residential streets.
• Observing public behaviour and identifying offences such as littering and fly-tipping.
• Approaching offenders professionally to explain the offence and issue Fixed Penalty Notices.
• Educating the public on environmental responsibilities.
• Accurately recording evidence, statements and reports using provided systems.
• Working independently while remaining supported by a wider enforcement team.
