Requisition ID12777-Posted15/10/2026-Transport Infrastructure-Cumbernauld - Traffic Scotland
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Field Engineer to join our TSIC account in Cumbernauld. This is an on‑site, mobile role working across the Central Belt’s highways network.
As a Field Engineer, you’ll be the driving force behind keeping Scotland’s roads safe, reliable, and moving. You’ll deliver reactive and planned maintenance, installation, and commissioning works on essential highways control technology — from CCTV and Traffic Monitoring Units to Variable Message Signs, Emergency Telephones, and other motorway‑based electronic and communications equipment.
You’ll work 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday.
Our TSIC account has proudly partnered with Traffic Scotland on behalf of Transport Scotland since 2004. We operate, maintain, and upgrade the motorway and trunk road technology infrastructure across the whole of Scotland. With over 12,000 intelligent transport system (ITS) assets, our teams keep critical roadside technology running smoothly — including variable message signs, CCTV, emergency roadside telephones (ERTs), and power and communication cabinets.
We also manage hundreds of miles of Scotland’s motorway and trunk road network and deliver consultancy services such as asset management, design, and environmental management. Our focus is simple: reliable journey times and exceptional customer care for every road user.
What makes this role unique is that you’ll be part of a multi‑disciplinary frontline team ensuring the availability and safe operation of Transport Scotland’s roadside technology assets across Scottish motorways and trunk roads. Due to the mobile nature of the role, a valid driving licence is essential.
Ideally , you’ll hold a national certificate in an electronic/electrical discipline and vocational qualifications in electrotechnical or telecommunications fields. Experience in field installation or servicing would be advantageous — but not essential. We’ll give you the training and development you need to hit the ground running.
