Job Description
  • Job Title: Field Chemist
  • Hours: 37.5
  • Location: Aberdeen + Offshore
  • Salary: Competitive

As a Field Chemist you will be responsible for supporting the Production Support Manager to deliver analytical performance. You will perform sampling and analysis to recognised international methods and documented procedures and the preparation of reports.

Key Accountabilities
  • Demonstrate compliance to all test methods, procedures and quality systems essential for best practices.
  • Liaise with line manager/ on shore support/ if a problem with equipment, methods or samples occurs and initiate corrective actions to ensure continuity of service.
  • Identify and implement improvements to current laboratory operations in order to maximise equipment availability, ensure technical standards are maintained and improved thus ensuring profitability.
  • Ensure adequate stock of consumables to ensure continuous productivity.
  • Ensure testing equipment is calibrated and safe/ suitable for use.
  • Completion of daily, weekly and monthly routine sampling, analysis and reporting as per client procedures.
  • Liaison with SGS lab onshore support.
  • Deliver consistently high standards of analytical performance and ensure smooth and continued operation of platform laboratory.
  • Maintain and develop positive relationships with clients to provide analytical solutions and continuity of service.
Qualifications

How to be a successful candidate

To be successful for this role it would be good to have experience of Off-shore Oil Industry related analysis encompassing a broad spectrum of methods and analysis to meet exacting process and client demands.

  • Valid Medical/BOSIET/MIST
  • HNC level in chemistry or related science based subject, or equivalent.
Desirable
  • Preparation of laboratory techniques and documentation.
  • Knowledge and experience of process management and chemical optimisation.
  • Off-shore medical certificate.
  • Off-shore survival certificate.
  • MIST On line Training
  • SBT01
  • Oil in Water
  • H2S Sampling Experience
