Job summary

Southern Housing is seeking a skilled Multi Trader to join our Direct Services Reactive Repairs team. This field-based role covers a range of repairs across our homes, including basic plumbing, carpentry, plastering, tiling, and other maintenance tasks, with a focus on first-time fixes and resident satisfaction.

You will manage your own workload, work efficiently to meet targets, and communicate clearly with residents, including vulnerable customers, while participating in a 24-hour emergency

Qualifications

• Proven track record in a Direct Labour Service or similar repairs environment with strong customer focus.
• Relevant trade qualifications (City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2/3) or equivalent multi-trade experience.
• Experience delivering repairs across multiple trades.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and safe systems of work.
• Ability to diagnose faults and deliver a first-time fix where possible.
• Excellent communication with residents, including vulnerable customers.
• Flexible, proactive, and team-oriented; willing to work evenings/weekends and participate in a 24-hour emergency rota.
• Full UK driving licence with up to six points; licence checks on hire.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a wide range of repairs across homes, including plumbing, carpentry, patch plastering, tiling, and other maintenance works.
• Manage your own workload and meet service targets; deliver high-quality workmanship first time.
• Keep residents informed throughout the repair process and provide excellent customer service.
• Work as part of a team and support colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for residents.
• Be flexible to attend evenings and weekends and participate in the 24-hour emergency call-out rota.
