Job summary

SGS is seeking an experienced Inspection Engineer to join our Industrial Services team. This field-based role involves inspecting pressure equipment and related systems to ensure compliance with UK regulations and European directives across client sites in the West Midlands, Cambridgeshire and Oxfordshire.

You will conduct statutory inspections, report findings, and provide technical guidance while upholding safety and quality standards to support operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Experience inspecting pressure vessels, piping systems, safety accessories and related equipment.
  • Experience in engineering, inspection, manufacturing, process, petrochemical or industrial environments.
  • Knowledge of UK and European pressure equipment regulations and standards.
  • Experience delivering statutory inspections and producing technical reports.
  • Ability to work independently with high accuracy and professional judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections of pressure equipment and containment systems per PED, PESR, ADR, TPED and TPER.
  • Independently assess and report inspection findings per SGS procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage inspection activities safely, complying with risk assessments and health & safety laws.
  • Provide technical guidance to colleagues and customers on pressure equipment inspection and compliance.
  • Carry out inspection duties in a commercially focused way to support efficiency and customer satisfaction.
