Job summary

Cotswold Archaeology is seeking an Archaeologist in Milton Keynes for a fixed-term contract. You will work in the Fieldwork department, recording data, recovering artefacts, and carrying out manual excavations under CA procedures. The role requires knowledge of archaeological practice and experience in commercial archaeology.

A full manual driving licence is desirable; salary £28,532–£29,255 for the six-month contract, with accommodation and allowances on away projects.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and understanding of archaeological practice.
• Previous experience in commercial archaeology.
• Ability to create and maintain accurate and well organised administrative records.
• Ability to work to deadlines.
• Willingness to undertake away work including some extended away work.

Responsibilities

• Accurately record investigation data using pro-forma recording sheets and registers, scale drawings and photographs.
• Recover artefacts and environmental samples in accordance with CA procedures and standards.
• Carry out manual excavation of features with a wide variety of tools.
• Demonstrate knowledge of archaeological periods and practice.
• Create and maintain accurate administrative records.
• Assist in training and support of Trainee Archaeologists.
