Job summary

Cotswold Archaeology is recruiting a Project Officer in Milton Keynes to lead large and complex fieldwork sites, ensuring on-time delivery, quality recording, and safety compliance. The role requires supervising teams, managing documentation, and coordinating with clients and authorities.

Role involves visiting away projects with accommodation and subsistence as needed. A CSCS card or test and a full driving licence are desirable.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of archaeological practice and Britain-wide archaeology.
• Experience supervising large fieldwork projects and teams.
• Ability to write clear fieldwork reports and summaries.
• Good Health & Safety knowledge and practice.
• Full driving licence; willingness to drive company vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of fieldwork to time, budget, quality and safety requirements.
• Line manage staff and support performance development and training.
• Ensure quality of site records and archives to required standards.
• Author fieldwork reports, stratigraphic accounts, and summaries.
• Monitor progress and liaise with clients and officers as needed.
• Ensure timely completion of administrative records and time sheets.
• Promote CA's work to the public through displays, publications, and media.
