Job summary

Field Application Engineering Manager - EMEA in Crawley, hybrid (3 days/wk). Our client seeks an experienced engineering leader to drive the FAE function across Europe, supporting existing customers, enabling wins, and growing the business. You will manage pre-sales, project delivery and team development in a global, matrix environment with focus on LCD/HMI solutions and systems across broadcast, medical, industrial, and transport sectors.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
• Experience with LCD displays and HMI hardware is essential.
• Knowledge of BIOS/firmware development and software integration.
• Embedded systems design using x86 and ARM architectures and related OSs.
• Strong customer-facing communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Retain and delight existing customers by providing engineering support and innovative solutions.
• Support sales with rapid RFQ responses and competitive pre-sales engineering.
• Lead pre-sales demonstrations and develop problem-solving approaches for applications.
• Build and manage the Field Application Engineering team to high performance.
• Own engineering project management, resource forecasting and documentation for EMEA.
• Lead training programs and participate in technical meetings with cross-functional teams.

Field Application Engineering Manager - EMEA

Salary: Up to £75,000 base + bonus + benefits

Location: Crawley, Hybrid (3 days /week)

Full Time, Permanent

The Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Field Application Engineering Manager - EMEA to lead the engineering support function across its European customer base.

Reporting to the VP, Technology & Customer Integration - EMEA & ROW, this role is responsible for supporting existing EMEA customers across standard and custom projects, while also providing the engineering support required to win new business and drive growth across the region.

You will work across a global, complex and matrix organisation, collaborating with teams across different functions and geographies to ensure customers receive a high standard of engineering support and have the technical solutions they need.

The role covers a broad range of customer and engineering activity across sectors including Broadcast, Medical, Industrial, Test & Measurement and Transportation, with a particular focus on developing HMI solutions for applications such as Studios, TV and Radio.

As the engineering leader for EMEA, you will combine customer support, pre-sales engineering, project management and team development, while acting as a key engineering contact for the wider business.

Key Responsibilities

• Total customer retention - Delight existing customers with support and engineering innovations to ensure that EOLs are re-won by us and they are delighted with their experience of the client's products and engineering. This may be EOL management, new product development support or customer relationship management with engineering items
• High win rate of all RFQs - Fast and thorough response and support to the sales team to deliver competitive solutions for our customers across all of our product sets (excluding 3.0 IDS)
• Pre-sales support - Assist customers, prospects and sales team members in understanding products and perform product demonstrations for various applications/use cases - find and notice problems and propose solutions
• Develop and Manage FAE team - Colleagues in your department as this grows to be developing quickly, inspired and motivated to hit similar high standards
• Project management, resource forecasting and engineering administrative maintenance - be the single point of engineering contact who has full grip of all engineering related items for EMEA and maintains the supporting admin such as engineering documentation
• Participate in technical meetings and prepare training programs for the sales team.

Qualifications and Experience

• Knowledge and experience of LCD displays (Essential)
• Knowledge and experience of Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and related hardware (Essential)
• Knowledge and experience of development and implementation of BIOS/firmware, and application software integration
• Knowledge and experience of development and implementation of embedded system design using x86 and ARM architectures, and related operating systems Linux, Windows 10, Android, etc.
• Embrace a customer-centric mindset and be comfortable in an outward-facing role
• Maintain knowledge on industry trends and resolve design issues
• Exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills
• Experience with MS Project, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and project management tools
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical qualifications
