South West Recruitment Ltd in Ferndown is recruiting an experienced Fettler – Sheet Metal Finisher to join a trusted sheet metal and fabrication company. The role involves fettling, finishing, grinding, welding preparation, and quality inspection of fabricated metal parts.

You will work Mon-Thu 7.45–17.00 and Fri 7.45–12.45 (38.75 hours weekly), with an hourly rate of £14.00 depending on experience. The company serves construction, marine, architectural and engineering sectors, offering on-site

Qualifications

• Previous fettling or metal finishing experience.
• Confident with power tools and finishing equipment.
• High attention to detail and good manual dexterity.
• Ability to work independently and meet production targets.
• Understanding of workshop health and safety procedures.
• Experience working with stainless steel, mild steel, or aluminium.
• Familiarity with welding and fabrication environments.
• Forklift licence is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Fettling, grinding, and finishing fabricated sheet metal parts.
• Removing sharp edges, weld splatter, and surface imperfections.
• Using hand and power tools such as grinders and linishers.
• Inspecting parts for quality and consistency.
• Working from job cards or verbal instructions.
• Maintaining a clean and safe work area.
• Supporting general fabrication tasks when needed.

We are recruiting for an experienced Fettler / Deburrer / Metal Finisher for an established and trusted sheet metal and fabrication company based in Ferndown, Dorset.

The company are known for their high standards and technical expertise, we supply precision metalwork to a wide range of industries including construction, marine, architectural, and engineering sectors.

Salary: £14.00 per hour depending on experience

Hours: Mon to Thursday 7.45 to 17.00 & Friday 7.45 to 12.45 (38.75 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities:

• Fettling, grinding, and finishing fabricated sheet metal parts
• Removing sharp edges, weld splatter, and surface imperfections
• Using a variety of hand and power tools (e.g., grinders, linishers, sanders)
• Inspecting parts for quality and consistency
• Working from job cards or verbal instructions
• Keeping the work area clean and safe
• Supporting general fabrication tasks when needed
