Interaction Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Fettler / Polisher in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, to join a busy sheet metal manufacturing team. This full-time, permanent role offers hands-on work finishing metal components to high-quality standards.

The ideal candidate will fettling, grinding and polishing sheet metal parts, read engineering drawings, and assist with fabrication or basic welding when required. Competitive hourly pay with on-site parking and a supportive team.

Responsibilities

• Fettling, grinding and polishing sheet metal components
• Removing sharp edges, burrs and imperfections
• Using hand tools, power tools and grinding equipment
• Preparing and finishing metal surfaces to a high standard
• Working from engineering drawings and job instructions
• Checking finished components for quality and accuracy
• Measuring components to ensure they meet specifications
• Assisting with fabrication, assembly and basic welding tasks when required
• Maintaining a clean, safe working environment
• Following health & safety procedures at all times
• Working closely with the production team to meet deadlines

Fettler / Polisher – Temp to Perm

Location: Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire
Salary: £12.71 – £17.00 per hour, depending on experience

Our client, a well-established sheet metal manufacturing company based in Letchworth Garden City, is currently looking for an experienced Fettler / Polisher to join their busy production team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in metal finishing, grinding, polishing or fabrication who is looking for a permanent position within an established engineering and manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for finishing metal components to a high standard, ensuring all products meet the required quality and specification standards.

Duties Will Include:

• Fettling, grinding and polishing sheet metal components




• Removing sharp edges, burrs and imperfections from fabricated parts




• Using hand tools, power tools and grinding equipment




• Preparing and finishing metal surfaces to a high standard




• Working from engineering drawings and job instructions




• Checking finished components for quality and accuracy




• Measuring components to ensure they meet required specifications




• Assisting with fabrication, assembly and basic welding tasks when required




• Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working environment

The Ideal Candidate:

• Previous experience in fettling, polishing, grinding or metal finishing




• Experience working within a sheet metal, fabrication or engineering environment




• Confident using hand tools, grinders and polishing equipment




• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings would be advantageous




• Good attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work




• Good practical and mechanical skills




• Reliable, hardworking and punctual




• Able to work independently and as part of a team




• Previous welding or fabrication experience would be beneficial but is not essential

Hours & Pay

Full-time, Permanent

£12.71 – £17.00 per hour, depending on experience.
