Job description

Dakota Hotel based in Manchester City Centre are seeking a trained Bar Tender to join our Bar team this festive season - this is a great role for someone with alternative commitments and seeking their first job.

Our location, 29 Ducie St, Manchester M1 2JL, is centrally located in the Piccadilly Basin, close to Piccadilly Station ideally located for public transport users.

We are home to 137 luxury bedrooms, including 27 suites - the most in the city, a destination cocktail bar with champagne room, and a brasserie style grill with private dining rooms as well as a spectacular terrace.

CONTRACT AND PAY RATE

The role carries is a zero-hour, fixed-term contract until 2nd Jan 2026.

Pay rate is national minimum wage plus tronc payments which are at least £1.84 per hour.

Typical shifts will start at 5pm including working weeks.

You must be available to work Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.

PRIMARY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Carry out the role of a waiter / waitress in our Bar and Grill, providing table service, taking guest orders and running large trays of delicious food to guest tables.
  • Provide the highest levels of guest service, offering personalised dish and beverage recommendations, and delivering a memorable dining experience.
  • Work closely with the Bar and Kitchen team to ensure the effective flow of communication.
  • To have a comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage menu options to enhance the guest experience.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS
  • A minimum of one years working experience in a Bar environment.
  • A strong foundation of knowledge in how to make classic cocktails.
  • Understanding of the responsible sale of alcohol, although full training will be provided.
  • Ability to make coffees such as lattes and cappuccinos.
  • Ability to work at pace and be physically active for the duration of your shift.
  • Willing and able to pour, serve and sell alcohol.
  • Be able to be physically active in your role, standing for much of your shift and working at pace.
  • An enthusiastic individual who will promote our culture of positivity.
  • Be task oriented with a great pride for the work they do and attention to detail.
  • Flexible with shift patterns and available around the needs of our business.
  • Successful candidates must demonstrate having researched our brand and a genuine desire to be part of our team.
