About Argus

Argus is the leading independent provider of market intelligence to the global energy and commodity markets. We offer essential price assessments, news, analytics, consulting services, data science tools and industry conferences to illuminate complex and opaque commodity markets.

Headquartered in London with 1,300 staff, Argus is an independent media organisation with 29 offices in the world’s principal commodity trading hubs. Companies, trading firms and governments in 160 countries around the world trust Argus data to make decisions, analyse situations, manage risk, facilitate trading and for long-term planning. Argus prices are used as trusted benchmarks around the world for pricing transportation, commodities and energy.

Founded in 1970, Argus remains a privately held UK-registered company owned by employee shareholders, global growth equity firm General Atlantic.

Argus Consulting Services is the advisory division of Argus Media — the largest independent energy publisher in the world. We provide clients with customised analysis, research, data and commentary services on international energy markets.

Our work is firmly focused on markets — their structure, logistics and economics. Argus Consulting Services draws on Argus’ key strengths — energy markets expertise, global networks and proprietary databases — in order to deliver real client value.

Argus Consulting undertakes tailor-made commissioned assignments for a wide variety of clients, including governments, national oil and energy companies, multi-nationals, the finance sector, energy traders, upstream, mid and downstream independents. Argus works across sectors including oil & gas, petrochemicals, fertilizers, hydrogen, biofuels and energy transition solutions.

What will you be doing?

Fertilizer and fertilizer raw material markets are a core and fast growing part of our consultancy offering. We are looking to expand our capacity through the appointment of a Manager with previous fertilizer/fertilizer raw materials experience who is looking to deliver assignments and develop relationships in this space.

The successful candidate can expect to work with blue chip clients including international fertilizer companies, investment banks and private equity, trading houses and national governments and energy companies. They may expect to work on engagements including:

  • Equity and finance raise for new fertilizer investment (plants/mines etc)
  • Major M&A deals alongside client teams
  • Long-term strategic investment planning
  • Market entry opportunity analysis and execution strategy

Our Consulting team of over 20 projects personnel in London and 80 worldwide has grown rapidly and has ambitious plans for further development. If you have a constructive attitude and are prepared to play a role in all aspects of building the business, this is a great opportunity for you. Managers demonstrating strong sector knowledge, managerial, client relationship and commercial skills can be promoted to Senior Manager positions with excellent opportunities for reward.

Key Responsibilities

You will be expected to support and ultimately lead engagements to respond to client enquiries, develop proposals, and win business in the fertilizer and fertilizer raw materials sectors. Our projects cover ammonia (traditional and clean), urea, nitrates, phosphates, potash, sulphur, NPKs, specialities and organics. You will work as part of a team and will be responsible for the quality of our consulting work that you deliver as well as for the work of that team. This includes the quality and timeliness of the end-deliverable, and the overall client experience of commissioning Argus to provide Consulting Services across all commodity sectors.

You will be responsible for working with Consulting leadership and the Argus sales team to develop a pipeline of consulting work. This will involve educating the sales team to help them identify opportunities in the marketplace and helping them qualify leads and then developing proposals as required. It will also involve working with Argus’ marketing department to promote consulting services through our publications, conferences etc.

People and Knowledge Development

You will liaise with Argus staff to ensure current knowledge of Argus products and maintain current knowledge of major drivers and trends across commodity markets and to identify opportunities to promote services.
