Job summary

Mencap in Londonderry is seeking a Female Support Worker to help people with learning disabilities in daily life. You will provide personal care, assist with finances, and support community activities, promoting independence and inclusion.

Applicants must be female due to the Equality Act and must have the right to work in the UK. The role involves a full-time contract with shifts including evenings, weekends and overnights; NISCC registration and enhanced Access NI checks are required.

Qualifications

• Willingness to register with NISCC and undergo an enhanced Access NI check.
• Clean UK drivers licence is required for this role.

Responsibilities

• Support people with learning disabilities in their daily lives and routines.
• Assist with personal care and medication, including bathing and dressing.
• Help with finances and everyday tasks like shopping and bill payments.
• Encourage independence and social inclusion by supporting community activities and groups.
• Use Positive Behaviour Support strategies to enhance quality of life.
• Build trusting, meaningful relationships based on empathy and respect.
