Job description

Job Opportunity: Support Worker in Canterbury

Would you like to be part of a small, highly specialised service committed to supporting individuals in the community?

Are you interested in involving and supporting people to be active members of their local community?

Would you like to be well trained, well supported, well paid, and know that your work makes a positive difference?

About Me

I am seeking support in Canterbury both at home and in the community. I enjoy spending time with animals, family & friends, socialising, and learning new skills. I need support to develop independent living skills, stay safe, maintain a healthy lifestyle, and manage anxiety and specific challenges. I find time with my own thoughts challenging and need caring individuals to support me through these feelings. I am beginning a new chapter in my own home, which is both exciting and daunting, and I need support from people eager to join me on this journey.

Shift Patterns

This role involves a 24-hour service, requiring flexibility. Shifts include nights and some weekends, with options for flexible shifts such as nights only or weekends only on a part-time basis.

**Potential earnings depend on additional shifts and sleep-ins where applicable. Sleep-ins are not required in all services, and not all colleagues will work overtime, so earnings may vary.**

Role Responsibilities
About the role
  • Provide caring, patient, and understanding support.
  • Use mindful language when communicating.
  • Support me at home and in the community, including during challenging times.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams such as psychologists, occupational therapists, and social workers.
The Ideal Candidate

You should be

  • Experienced in supporting individuals with Autism and Mental Health diagnoses.
  • Resilient, patient, and understanding, capable of building a strong relationship over time.
  • Consistent in your support approach.
  • Effective in using language to broaden my opportunities.

You should have:

  • The right attitude and a good sense of humor.
  • Motivation to support a busy schedule.
  • The ability to work well independently, as part of a team, and with professionals involved in my care.

This is a specialist supported living service in Canterbury with high standards. Full training will be provided locally before supporting me.
