Overview
Pay rate: £16.36 per hour. Mitie has a great opportunity for an Aviation Security Officer to join the Aviation Security Team at St Pancras Operation and at Temple Mills depot.
The role may require covering various shift patterns and working locations; flexibility with shifts and start times is expected (may start at 4:30 in the morning).
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a determined, trustworthy, attentive and approachable character when welcoming clients and customers.
- Provide polite and excellent customer service at all times.
- Carry out physical body searches, bag searches, screening of hand and hold luggage through an X-ray machine, access control, static post, patrol, vehicle searches and other operational duties.
- Respond to on-site incidents or requests for assistance and protect the integrity of the restricted zone until the arrival of the British Transport Police (BTP), Client, Emergency Services or Duty Manager.
- Record, report and escalate all incidents using the required process/system/technology throughout the shift.
- Maintain physical fitness to meet the demands of standing, sitting, bending and walking as required.
Qualifications
- Valid SIA Frontline Door Supervision or Security Guarding Licence is essential; CCTV Licence would be beneficial.
- On-site colour vision testing will be conducted during the application process to verify colour vision for screening duties and threat identification.
- Counter Terrorism Check will be carried out after a job offer; the applicant cannot start until checks are cleared by the relevant authorities.
- A Full UK Driving licence would be beneficial.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capability in using workplace software and current IT technology.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and act as an ambassador for great customer service.
- You will be required to pass through a range of referencing and vetting checks, including a Criminal Records Check; you must have lived in the UK for at least 3 years with a 5-year checkable work history.
