Job summary

DEWIS Centre for Independent Living in the United Kingdom seeks a Female Personal Assistant for a 16-year-old with global development delay. 3 hours per week, after school, to support socialising and community access; DBS check required.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

A personal assistant is required for a 16-year-old young female who is diagnosed with global development delay. I have limited speech but I am very sociable and enjoys doing activities.

PURPOSE OF JOB

I am an active young person and would like some support in socialising and accessing the community. The purpose of the role is for the personal assistant to take me out into the community to help develop my social skills and other skills too.

PLACE OF WORK

Out and about in the Community

HOURS OF WORK

3 hours a week. Normally 1 session per week: after a school day to be agreed but can be flexible on days.

RATE OF PAY

£15.40 per hour

TASKS INVOLVED

Always supervising me at all times

Enabling me to access social activities such as Pedal Power, Dance, After-school club, Time in town (museum/cinema, etc...)

Ensuring that I am safe at all times.

Transporting the me to places in the community.

Assisting me to improve my confidence, physical skills and ability to deal with a variety of social situations.

Personal care will also be required.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

Female only

Driver ,must have access to a vehicle and hold a full driving license. The use of your vehicle with be required for this role. Class 1 business use is required

Experience in a similar role is desirable. Preferably assisting another non-verbal young person with special needs.

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A probation period will be necessary in the first instance. Wages will be paid 4 weekly. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
