Disability North is seeking a friendly Female Personal Assistant to support a blind client in Newcastle. The role focuses on practical tasks to promote independence, including driving a larger 8-seat vehicle and guiding the client in new places.

Hours are 35 per week (Tue–Fri, 9:00–18:15 with a 30-minute break). The rate is £15.50 per hour. No prior experience is required, and applicants should be comfortable in a busy family environment.

Qualifications

• Clean UK driving licence is essential.
• No prior experience working with someone who is blind is required.
• Role focuses on practical support to increase independence.

Responsabilités

• Provide sighted assistance for daily activities and outings.
• Drive and accompany Summer in a 8-seat Motability vehicle.
• Read signs, menus and other written information aloud as needed.
• Describe what’s happening around you to help with situational awareness.
