This role provides resident cover and experience at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Initially offered for 6 months, with potential extension based on performance and vacancies. Rotations to other sites may be available.
The ICU senior clinical fellow will join the registrar grade tier, providing full on-call coverage including weekends and nights. Airway management experience is essential.
During duty, the resident reviews and manages ICU patients under supervision, participates in multidisciplinary team care, performs procedures, liaises with referring teams, updates relatives, and acts as the first point of contact for ICU nursing staff.
All junior staff collaborate closely with consultants. The role includes supervising and training medical students and junior doctors attached to ICU. The timetable involves twice daily consultant ward rounds, weekly MDTs, and daily meetings with infectious diseases/microbiology teams. Shifts vary from 9.5 to 13 hours, averaging less than 48 hours/week, with a full 7-day service.

The post, titled Senior Clinical Fellow in Adult Intensive Care Medicine, is based at Charing Cross Hospital. The role reports to Dr. Simon Ashworth, Clinical Director. Initially 6 months, extendable based on performance and vacancies. Rotations to other sites may be offered.
The fellow will join the registrar grade, providing full on-call ICU coverage, including nights and weekends. Airway experience is essential.
Responsibilities include reviewing and managing ICU patients, performing procedures, liaising with teams, updating relatives, and supervising medical students. The timetable includes daily ward rounds, weekly MDTs, and educational meetings such as M&M, teaching, journal clubs, and governance meetings. Induction, training courses, and ongoing educational opportunities are provided. Night shifts are limited to approximately 1 in 6.
Exceptional candidates may be considered for specialist fellowships (e.g., neuro, echo, teaching/simulation, FUSIC Heart and Lung, BSE1). The role can be undertaken as a standalone or as Out of Programme Experience (OOPE) with prior approval. GMC registration is required; previous ICU/anaesthetics experience (>12 months) and postgraduate exams are essential.
