Job summary

Mane in Southampton is recruiting experienced welders for a busy engineering and manufacturing environment on a contract basis.

This hands-on role requires working to engineering drawings, fabricating and welding components in a production setting, with exposure to marine, defence or heavy engineering sectors.

You will perform MIG/MAG, FCAW and MMA welding, read drawings, ensure quality, and uphold safety while contributing to a wider team to meet delivery deadlines.

Qualifications

• Previous professional welding experience.
• Strong MIG/MAG, FCAW and/or MMA welding skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience working with fabricated steelwork or engineering components.
• Good understanding of welding procedures, quality and safety requirements.
• Relevant welding qualifications/certifications are advantageous.
• Marine, defence, shipbuilding or heavy engineering experience would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• MIG/MAG, FCAW and/or MMA welding of fabricated components and assemblies.
• Working from engineering drawings and welding specifications.
• Carrying out welding and fabrication to the required quality standards.
• Preparing, positioning and securing components prior to welding.
• Inspecting completed welds and identifying any defects or quality issues.
• Working with materials including mild steel, stainless steel and/or aluminium.
• Supporting general fabrication activities where required.
• Maintaining a safe, clean and organised working environment.
• Working as part of a wider production and fabrication team to meet delivery requirements.
