We are a multi-award-winning Farm Shop, Bakery, Café & Events business based in Pontefract, West Yorkshire.

Our farm shop features butchers and a deli, showcasing the best of British food and farming.

We are recruiting for a Farm Shop Assistant Manager to join our team and help manage our busy farm shop in Pontefract.

This role involves assisting in the daily operations of the shop within a professional, motivated, and family-oriented business, aiming to exceed customer expectations.

We seek a candidate with energy, confidence, leadership skills, and excellent communication abilities, with an outgoing personality for high customer interaction.

The role supports the farm shop manager and supervisor, requiring self-motivation, organization, adaptability, and flexibility, with potential for future promotion within five years.

This is a physically demanding role, requiring stamina and physical fitness.

Responsibilities include:

• Learning from the farm shop manager about traditional values, standards, and expectations.
• Assisting with opening and closing procedures.
• Managing and motivating the team, including training, holidays, discipline, and appraisals.
• Enhancing customer experience and resolving complaints.
• Controlling fresh grocery displays to high standards.
• Gaining knowledge of deli operations for oversight.
• Maintaining a safe and hygienic environment.
• Stock control, ordering, and rotation.
• Ensuring efficient shop operations to minimize waste and maximize sales.
• Operating tills and tracking sales.

Candidate requirements:

• Excellent time management skills.
• Availability to work at least one weekend in two and five days a week on average.
• Enjoys a holiday allowance of 28 paid days including public holidays.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in team leadership within retail, preferably in seasonal food environments (e.g., Waitrose, M&S Food, Booths).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and EPOS systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
