Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking a Family Support Worker in Penrith to support Social Workers by delivering direct interventions with children and families, and to promote family wellbeing. You will provide parenting guidance, budgeting support, and assistance with safeguarding, working with partner agencies and maintaining accurate records.

This role offers a 3-month contract with the local authority, standard 37-hour week, Monday to Friday, with flexible hybrid working and the opportunity

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, young people and families in social care or community settings.
• Experience providing direct support to vulnerable families.
• Experience helping parents with parenting, budgeting, and relationship challenges.
• Experience working within safeguarding frameworks and child-focused services.
• Experience multi-agency working and attending professional meetings.
• Experience maintaining accurate records, reports, and case notes.
• Ability to build effective working relationships with children, families, and professionals.
• Ability to manage competing demands in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• Support Social Workers with direct work with parents and families.
• Provide parenting support and guidance to parents and carers.
• Assist families with budgeting and financial management.
• Support families experiencing domestic abuse and promote healthy relationships.
• Facilitate and support family time arrangements where required.
• Assist with duty responsibilities and respond to family support needs.
• Attend professional meetings and contribute to multi-agency working.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive case records.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partner organisations.
• Support safeguarding activities and contribute to positive outcomes for children and families.
• Assist with the implementation of support plans and interventions.
• Promote a child-centred and family-focused approach in all areas of work.
