Job summary

Nova Hire Recruitment is seeking a compassionate Family Support Worker in Plymouth to join the Children and Young People’s Services team. You will work closely with Social Workers to support children, young people and families in home and community settings.

The role involves practical and emotional support, building trust, and delivering interventions aimed at improving outcomes. Flexibility for evenings and weekends is required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, young people or families.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Ability to work both in a team and independently.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child welfare.

Responsibilities

• Undertake home visits and work intensively with families to improve outcomes.
• Facilitate and supervise Family Time/contact sessions, including some evenings and weekends.
• Ensure the voice, wishes and feelings of children are heard and reflected in support plans.
• Maintain accurate case records and prepare reports for meetings, reviews and court where required.
• Work closely with Social Workers, schools, health, Police and other partner agencies.
• Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and challenging situations.

We are looking for a compassionate and committed Family Support Worker to join our Children and Young People’s Services team.

You will work alongside Social Workers to provide practical and emotional support to children, young people and families. You will help families overcome challenges, reduce risk and build resilience, working both in family homes and within the community.

Flexibility is essential, as the role may include early mornings, evenings and weekends.
