Are you looking for a rewarding role working for an intersectional feminist organisation? If so, we have an incredible opportunity for you to join our team as a Family Support Worker at Solace Women's Aid.
You will be joining a team of committed and inspiring individuals whose dedication has saved the lives of thousands of women, men, and children in the capital. We are looking for friendly and diligent individuals to join our services and help us make a difference.
Our core values reflect our history and were developed in consultation with staff and service users. Feminism and intersectionality are key to our work, and we are committed to the principles of being survivor-led, trauma-informed, empowering, diverse, anti-racist and anti-discriminatory.
Solace provides safe refuge and move-on accommodation to hundreds of women and children made homeless through domestic or sexual abuse. We run 19 refuges across London, including specialist refuge spaces for women with multiple needs. Of these, this role will involve working across two refuges in the borough of Haringey, in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
As a Family Support Worker, you will provide trauma-informed support to children, young people (aged 0–16) and their mothers who have experienced domestic abuse and are living in refuge accommodation.
Working as part of a dedicated team, you will help children and families begin their recovery by delivering one-to-one support, group work and age-appropriate activities that promote safety, wellbeing and resilience.
You will complete assessments, develop and review support plans, maintain accurate case records, and work closely with colleagues and partner agencies to ensure families receive coordinated, high-quality support. You will also provide resettlement support to help families successfully transition into the community.
As an experienced professional you have an understanding of the impact domestic abuse can have on children and young people. You have experience of providing support, completing assessments, developing support plans and maintaining accurate case records.
You will be confident working independently and as part of a wider team, building positive relationships with families and professionals while maintaining professional boundaries and delivering a trauma-informed, child-centred and strengths-based approach.
You will have a relevant Level 3 qualification in childcare, youth work, health and social care or a related field, or equivalent demonstrable experience working with vulnerable children, young people and families.
The postholder will be based at our Haringey Refuge, providing on-site support to survivors. Given the nature of this role and our refuge services, we are unable to offer hybrid working for this position.
