Job description

Job title:Family Support Worker

Salary:£25,000 per annum (£15,202 pro-rata)

Location:Bridgend

Contract/Hours:Permanent, Part-time – 22.5 hours per week (Monday to Thursday with flexibility on working hours between 08:30 and 17:00)

About the Service

Bridgend Families First Parenting supports families withchildren and young people as part of the Families First Programme. Our aim is to ensure families are confident, nurturing, resilient and safe by helping them to develop the skills to enable this.

The focus is on improving parenting skills and increasing parental understanding of their child's development and learning, achieving positive outcomes for the whole family and help them to make sustainable changes.

About the role

As a Family Support Worker, you will be working within our Bridgend Families First Parenting team.

You’ll take the ‘whole family approach’, building effective relationships with families and delivering programmes up to 10 weeks, that are tailored for each family member, whilst valuing their needs.

How you’ll create brighter futures

  • Supporting parents to achieve positive outcomes for the whole family and make sustainable changes.
  • Conducting initial assessments of family’s needs to determine the appropriate level of support and intervention required
  • Creating tailored support plans, setting goals and identifying strategies to address their specific needs
  • Signpost available resources and services where additional support may be required following the program
  • Conducting home visits to provide support and monitor progress
  • Working within a multi-agency network to
  • Ensuring data is collected in line with service requirements
  • Promptly identifying safeguarding concerns and to act in accordance with policy and procedures.

  • Relevant qualification within child development
  • Experience of working with parents and families and achieving positive outcomes
  • Experience of supporting families to understand their children's behaviour
  • Experience of multi-agency working especially regarding safeguarding procedures
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to travel throughout the area independently
