Job summary

Essex County Council in Basildon is seeking a Family Support Worker to engage with families, build relationships based on respect and positive regard, and manage a caseload.

You will work with children, young people, and families to improve life chances, provide practical and emotional support, and coordinate services with partners, under supervision.

This permanent, full-time role offers a salary of £26,284 to £33,256 per annum, 26 days leave and a Local Government Pension Scheme.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 3 in Children and Families or equivalent experience with children and families.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Ability to provide practical advice to families for sustainable outcomes.
• Effective communication, problem solving, time management.
• Awareness of legislation (Children Act 1989, Crime and Disorder Act 1998).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Hold own caseload with supervisor support and refer risk decisions as needed.
• Work with families to improve life chances and coordinate with other services.
• Undertake holistic assessments reflecting family and young person views.
• Provide practical, personal and emotional support in home or other settings.
• Develop programs to empower families to resolve issues themselves.
