Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a Family Worker (Link Role) based in Basildon on a fixed term contract. You will support families with complex needs, coordinate services, and contribute to safeguarding and early help initiatives within Children and Families.

The role requires degree level or equivalent qualification, HCPC registration for some posts, strong communication and collaborative skills, and willingness to travel across Essex as needed.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level preferred, or NVQ Level 4 or equivalent by experience.
• One post requires social work qualification and HCPC registration.
• Experience in relevant thematic areas (Domestic Abuse, Substance Misuse, Education, Mental Health, Parenting).

Responsibilities

• Determine direction and actions to progress cases day-to-day; escalate risks to Team Manager or Practice Supervisor.
• Act as a source of advice, guidance, and support to colleagues regarding the thematic role.
• Undertake holistic assessments of family needs to create intervention plans reflecting family views.
• Facilitate complex family meetings and manage competing views to find achievable solutions.
• Deliver individual and group programmes to develop family skills and access local services.
• Provide practical, personal, and emotional support to families at home or other settings.
• Participate in regular supervision to review work and ensure effective interventions.
• Embed principles of effective practice and manage risks per procedures.
• Engage in annual appraisals with objectives.
