Job summary

Action for Children is seeking a Family Support Practitioner in Thetford, Norfolk, to support vulnerable children aged 0-5 and their families. The role includes home visiting, group-based parenting sessions, and collaboration with partner agencies to improve outcomes.

You will join a dedicated team, maintain high-quality records, and travel to various settings. This fixed-term, full-time role runs for 12 months, offering training and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Early Years or relevant study area.
• Experience of working directly with children and families.
• Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication.
• The ability to maintain written records to a high standard.
• The ability to coordinate referral, assessment, and support.
• Confidence in IT systems.
• Experience of delivering a parenting programme (desirable).
• Access to a suitable method of transport to travel to various settings to carry out your role (essential).

Role: Family Support Practitioner

Salary: £26,006.84 per annum

Location: Thetford, Norfolk

Contract/Hours: Fixed Term Contract – Until 30th September 2027 – 12 months - Full time 37 hours per week.

A bit about the role.

Norfolk's Early Childhood and Family Service (ECFS) offers support to children aged 0-5 years old and their families. The support is provided through group sessions, parenting programs and through home visiting. The service works in partnership with families and other key organisations and provides group activity sessions which cover a variety of topics such as parenting, improving mental health and keeping a child safe.
