Job summary

Simply Education, in partnership with a specialist SEN school, is seeking a Family Support Officer / Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead to support students aged 11-16 with ASC and their families.

You will work with the DSL, pastoral and therapy teams to strengthen home-school links, monitor attendance, safeguard pupils, and deliver early intervention and family support.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent - Essential.
  • A relevant professional qualification or willingness to work towards a Level 3 qualification in Working with Children and Young People.
  • Previous experience supporting children and families, ideally within an SEN or education setting.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with families, staff and external agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Build positive relationships between home and school to support student wellbeing and engagement.
  • Lead on attendance monitoring, tracking and reporting, ensuring effective implementation of the school's attendance policy.
  • Work closely with families, external agencies and early help services to provide coordinated support.
  • Deliver staff training and contribute to safeguarding and pastoral initiatives.
  • Provide therapeutic support to students who are struggling to engage with learning, working alongside the therapy and teaching teams.
  • Produce attendance and family support reports for senior leaders and governors.
  • Maintain accurate safeguarding, attendance and family support records in line with statutory guidance.

Salary: £28,249 - £31,465 (Dependent on Qualifications)

Simply Education are working in partnership with a specialist SEN school to recruit a Family Support Officer / Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL). This rewarding role offers the opportunity to work closely with students aged 11-16 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), supporting both pupils and their families to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Working alongside the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), Pastoral Team and Therapy Team, you'll play a key role in strengthening home-school relationships, improving attendance, safeguarding students, and providing early intervention and family support.

The Role

What We're Looking For

Working Hours
  • Monday-Wednesday: 8:15am - 4:45pm
  • Thursday: 8:15am - 5:00pm
  • Friday: 8:15am - 4:00pm
