Jones Whyte in Glasgow is seeking a Family Solicitor (NQ - 2 years PQE) to join our growing team and manage a varied caseload including separation, financial provision, and child matters.

The role is permanent, 35 hours per week, with hybrid working to support work-life balance. You will be part of a department that values client care, professional development and collaborative teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Managing your own caseload of family law matters.
• Corresponding with clients and other solicitors.
• Progressing matters to litigation in the Sheriff Court and Court of Session, where appropriate.
• Advocacy of litigated matters, including instructing counsel and witnesses where required.
• Supporting business development within the department.
• Reporting to the partner leading the department on all matters.
• Providing quality, practical advice to clients about their options.
• Researching points of law and updates in legal developments.
• Maintaining and using the firm’s case management system.

Role: Family Solicitor (NQ - 2 years PQE)

Place of work: Glasgow

Contract type: Permanent, 35 hours

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm

The Role

The role will require you to handle your own caseload, being responsible for helping to progress a variety of matters for fee paying clients including: separation and divorce, financial provision, child contact, adoption and guardianship. You will be comfortable recording the time spent on client matters to ensure accurate client billing and credit control.

The department is currently made up of 4 Partners, 1 Senior Associate, 1 Associate, 1 Senior Solicitor, 1 Consultant, 2 Solicitors and 2 Trainees and they all have the support of a dedicated Legal Support Team. We have staff based within both our Glasgow and Edinburgh offices. This role would ideally be based in Glasgow.

• Adequately maintaining, utilising and working from the firm’s case management system
