Job summary

LC Legal in Birmingham seeks a Family Solicitor to join its growing Family Law team. You will manage privately funded family matters, under the guidance of an experienced Partner, gaining exposure to high-quality work and strong mentoring.

You will handle divorce, financial remedy, and private children matters, draft documents, conduct research, and represent clients in court and negotiations, while building lasting client relationships.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor with 2–4 years’ PQE in family law
• Experience handling divorce, financial remedy, and children work
• Ability to manage a caseload independently
• Strong organisational skills with ability to meet deadlines
• Excellent drafting and communication skills
• Client-focused approach with sensitivity and emotional intelligence
• Genuine passion for family law and supporting clients through challenging circumstances

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of privately funded family matters from instruction through to conclusion
• Advise clients on divorce, financial remedy, private children matters and related issues
• Draft legal documents, correspondence and court applications
• Conduct legal research and prepare case strategies
• Attend court hearings, client meetings and negotiations with support when required
• Support senior team members on more complex or high-value cases
• Build and maintain strong client relationships with empathy and professionalism
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and procedural requirements
• Manage deadlines and maintain accurate case records
• Contribute to business development activities where appropriate

The Role

You will manage a varied caseload of privately funded family matters, supporting clients through often complex and sensitive situations. This role offers a strong mix of autonomy and supervision, making it ideal for someone looking to build confidence and expertise in family law.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing your own caseload of family law matters from instruction through to conclusion
• Advising clients on a broad range of issues, including:
• Divorce and separation
• Financial remedy proceedings
• Private children matters (including Child Arrangements Orders)
• Drafting legal documents, correspondence, and court applications
• Conducting legal research and preparing case strategies
• Attending court hearings, client meetings, and negotiations (with support where required)
• Supporting senior team members on more complex or high-value cases
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships, demonstrating empathy and professionalism
• Ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory and procedural requirements
• Managing deadlines effectively and maintaining accurate case records
• Contributing to business development activities where appropriate

Candidate Requirements
