About Barnet Council

Barnet is a borough with much to be proud of. Our excellent schools, vibrant town centres, vast green spaces and diverse communities all help make it a great place to live and work. As a council we want to build on these strengths as we move into the future. We are growing and developing as an organisation to meet the challenges facing our borough and we are committed to working with partner organisations and residents to make Barnet even better. As an organisation, our staff are committed to Our Values: Learning to Improve, Caring, Inclusive, Collaborative – which drive everything we do.

About The Role

Barnet is home to the second largest child population in London; children in Barnet account for a quarter of all people living in the Borough and to meet their needs we are determined to ensure that our services in Barnet are responsive, focussed on improving their outcomes and Family Friendly.

With resilience based practice at the heart of our approach we are seeking dynamic practitioners so that our most vulnerable children and families get the best out of us, particularly those young people presenting with a range of needs including being victims/perpetrators of child sexual exploitation, young people affected or involved in serious youth violence and group offending, missing from home.

About You

We are seeking a dynamic, creative and inspiring individual to fill a Family Practitioner role within our Family Services. If you have a demonstrable track record of practice leadership and innovation, can thrive in a complex environment and care about your professional development and the development of others, we want to hear from you.

We are seeking experienced Family Practitioners with demonstrated backgrounds in leading plans and interventions with children, adolescents and their families. Using a whole family approach you will support the development of family resilience to enable parents to manage difficult adolescent behaviour and keep families together.

You will be a reliable, energetic and persistent practitioner with capacity to safely manage highly complex and emotive family environments through excellent engagement and communication supported by evidence based intervention skills.

Candidates must hold an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in child and family training. An enhanced DBS is required.
