We know early intervention and working with parents significantly increases successful outcomes for Children. We know that positive parenting has a major impact on a child's life chances. That's why our Family Practitioner role is fundamental to our whole school approach. Working with Children and their families you'll help the adults better understand and support their child's mental health needs. You'll be fundamental in establishing relationships with parents demystifying and reducing stigma around mental health so all children will have opportunities to access the support they need. You'll help parents develop the skills they need to parent effectively and confidently.

This is a peripatetic role across a group of primary schools, where you'll spend most of your time delivering parenting interventions that involve both the parent and child together. Sessions take place in a designated room within each school, offering a consistent and contained space for your work.

You'll collaborate closely with the Place2Be school-based staff member in each setting, with additional contact from the school link as needed. Much of your week involves travelling between schools to deliver face-to-face interventions, with some sessions held online for carers when appropriate. There will also be delivering of parenting workshops by agreement with schools.

The rhythm of the role is varied and rooted in building strong, supportive relationships across your allocated schools.

The schools being covered by the role are based across several boroughs including 1 in Ilford, 1 in Bexley, 5 in Croydon, 2 in Greenwich, 1 in Blackheath, 1 in Bermondsey and 1in Nine Elms.

You will not be required to attend all of them on a weekly basis, but instead will manage your diary across the school year so ensure each school has some input. There is flexibility for some remote delivery amounting to 1 day a week.

You'll have a level 4 diploma in Health and Social Care, Early Years or Counselling and Psychotherapy and will have worked in family support services or early years children's centres, supporting children and families and delivering parenting interventions or programmes. You'll have access to an enormous range of training and development and a pathway to develop and grow your career.
