Job summary

Hampshire County Council seeks a Family Practitioner to support children and families, delivering tailored interventions and assessments with a strengths-based Hampshire Approach. You will work with Social Workers and professionals to develop family plans that prioritise children’s needs and safety.

The role involves practical support, relationship-building, and solution-focused work to empower families and keep children safe at home.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, young people and families.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Skilled in mediation and handling challenging situations.
• Ability to produce clear reports using IT systems.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with children, parents and carers to provide practical and emotional support.
• Arrange resources and help families access services such as transport, care and housing.
• Build positive relationships and work collaboratively with professionals.
• Use mediation to improve family relationships.
• Undertake assessments and Children in Need visits with Social Workers.
• Prepare clear reports and maintain accurate records.
