Paralegal – Family Law Department

Location: Ashton-under-Lyme
Salary: Market rate, dependent on experience
Job Type: Full-time

Overview:

Our client is seeking a motivated and experienced Paralegal to join their Family Law Department.

This role is ideal for a paralegal with prior experience in family law and an interest in progressing toward qualification (including Training Contract opportunities).

The successful candidate will provide essential legal and administrative support across a range of family law matters.

Areas of Work:

You will be involved in supporting cases relating to:
  • Divorce and separation
  • Financial remedy disputes
  • Civil partnership disputes
  • Rights of unmarried and cohabiting couples
  • Private law children matters
  • Domestic abuse matters
Please note: This role does not include child care proceedings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assisting with new client enquiries and initial assessments
  • Supporting legal surgery sessions within the department
  • Undertaking fee-earning work under appropriate supervision
  • Handling administrative tasks related to client matters
  • Preparing and submitting Legal Aid funding applications
  • Contributing to marketing and business development efforts, including networking with local referral agencies
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in family law is essential
  • Familiarity with the Legal Aid scheme is highly desirable
  • Strong communication, organisational, and client care skills
  • Ability to work well within a team and under supervision
  • Interest in pursuing further legal qualifications welcomed
