Job summary

Warren Dell Primary School in South Oxhey is seeking a Family Liaison Officer to support children, families and the wider school community. The role focuses on safeguarding, early help, and improving outcomes for vulnerable pupils through collaboration with staff and external agencies.

You will act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, build trusted relationships with families, conduct home visits, support attendance and wellbeing, and work with the SENCo to assist those with additional needs.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and families in education, social care or community settings.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Ability to build positive relationships with children, parents and professionals.
• Organised and resilient with the ability to manage a varied workload.
• Experience supporting vulnerable children and families facing complex challenges.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated, compassionate and committed Family Liaison Officer to join our dedicated team and play a vital role in supporting children, families and the wider school community.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about safeguarding, family support and improving outcomes for vulnerable children. The successful candidate will work closely with school leaders, staff, families and external agencies to ensure children receive the support they need to flourish both academically and emotionally.

The Role

As our Family Liaison Officer, you will:

• Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, supporting the school's safeguarding responsibilities and working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with families, particularly those who may be facing barriers or challenges.
• Provide early help and intervention for children and families experiencing difficulties, including financial hardship, attendance concerns, emotional wellbeing issues and domestic abuse.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour and wellbeing through therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.
• Work alongside the SENCo and other professionals to support children with additional needs and their families.
• Conduct home visits and work proactively to improve attendance and engagement with school.
• Liaise effectively with external agencies, ensuring children and families receive the support they need.
