Job summary

Berkshire Sensory Consortium is seeking a committed Family Hub Worker to support children, young people and families through 1-1 work and group programmes. The role involves home visits, schools and Family Hub settings, with flexible hours and locations to meet service needs.

You will work with partner agencies to ensure coordinated support, using strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches to help families set goals and improve outcomes.

Qualifications

• Educated at level 3+ in Youth Work, Social Care, Education, Early Years or Parenting qualifications (or equivalent by training/experience).
• Experience delivering group-based programmes.
• Experience with vulnerable or disadvantaged families with complex needs; able to design and evaluate interventions.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of families and support through interventions.

Job description

The role of the Family Hub Worker is to support a caseload of families through a range of interventions in line with the early help assessment, planning and intervention framework. The post holder will also deliver parent and/or young people group programmes and workshops.

We are seeking a committed and empathetic Family Hub Worker to join our Family Hub Team, supporting children, young people and families on a 1-1 basis or through group workshops and programmes to achieve positive change before challenges escalates.

In this role, you will work directly with a case load of children, young people and parents experiencing a range of challenges, including parenting challenges, emotional wellbeing concerns and family relationships. Using a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach, you will help families to identify their needs, set achievable goals and build on their existing strengths to improve outcomes for children.

The work will take place in family homes, schools and Family Hub buildings, requiring confidence and the ability to build trusting relationships, including with families who may feel anxious or resistant to services. You will also work closely with partner agencies such as schools, health services and voluntary organizations to ensure coordinated and effective support.

The post holder will be able to work flexibly in terms of working hours and location (inc home working) based on the service needs. There is free parking at all Family Hub sites and the post holder will receive a Parking permit for relevant RBWM car parks.

You will need to be passionate about working with Children, Young people and their families and have a reassuring presence, be calm in a crisis and able to work with families in their homes, helping them make the necessary changes to stay together. You will also need to be/have:

• Educated at level 3 or above professional qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g Youth Work, Social Care, Education, Early Years, Parenting Qualifications) or equivalent by demonstrable training and experience
• Experience and/or confidence in delivering group based programmes
• Experience of working with vulnerable or disadvantaged families with complex needs and ability to design, implement and evaluate interventions that deliver positive outcomes
• Experience of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• A full driving licence and access to a car for work
