Job description

To operate as a Family Hub support worker within the Family Hub team in an agile fashion at a variety of outreach settings (including home visiting) within a district, providing 1:1 and group support to young children and their families.

Responsible for supporting improvements in outcomes for children through leading the delivery of play and learning opportunities across Family Hub sites, family homes, other community settings, and outreach locations.

The post holder will be expected to operate a Whole Family approach in their practice and work around the times of the family. As such, this post will require flexible working, including occasional evenings and weekends, coordinated by Management as needed.

To deliver and support the planning of high-quality stimulating play and leisure services that support children to reach their full potential.

To support vulnerable children with transitions, providing a coordinating function where required, e.g., starting preschool or primary school.

To be knowledgeable and proactive in supporting and encouraging children and their families to utilize the Family Hub Digital and Virtual offerings and other advice and guidance routes.

To deliver targeted public health interventions with children and families where appropriate.

To support home learning initiatives and early education opportunities for pre-school children.

To deliver parenting workshops or programs throughout the year for new and young parents, as well as parents of young children.

To ensure children and their families are supported to participate in developing service design and delivery, adhering to the co-design principle of Family Hubs.

To ensure the lived experience and voice of the child are central to all planning and support delivery.

To support families in building positive, independent networks within their communities.

To maintain records to a high and consistent standard and all relevant documentation in line with policy, ensuring electronic systems are updated and maintained appropriately.

To work flexibly according to community needs, which may include evenings and weekends, using Family Hub sites and outreach venues.

There are three positions available:

  • Two positions of 37 hours per week
  • One position of 25.5 hours per week

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This is a customer-facing position, and the Council has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure post holders have sufficient command of spoken English/Welsh for effective job performance, as detailed in the Job Description/Person Specification.

Note: There will be a 20-minute written activity during the interview.
