Job summary

South Gloucestershire Council is recruiting for a Best Start Family Hub Worker to support babies, children aged 0-5 and families with a focus on early help and practical support. You will deliver outreach and hub-based services, provide information and signposting, and work with partners to connect families with the right services.

You will engage with families, build confidence and promote Family Hub services, with an emphasis on safeguarding and timely referrals, while maintaining strong

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject or working towards one.
  • Experience of working directly with children, young people or families who require additional support.
  • Compassionate, strengths-based approach with sound judgement, empathy and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Confident communicator with ability to build positive relationships.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and ability to identify concerns and take action.
  • Experience maintaining accurate records and producing clear written reports; ability to learn new software packages.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver hub-based, outreach, group and one-to-one support to children and families.
  • Provide information, advice and signposting on health, welfare benefits, debt, housing and related services.
  • Support families with parenting, health, wellbeing and other needs while developing partnerships and referral pathways.
  • Identify safeguarding concerns and escalate them promptly in line with procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records, monitor progress and promote Family Hub services across communities and settings.
