Job summary

Nottingham City Council invites applications for a hybrid, permanent role supporting children, families and young people across multiple city locations. You will deliver early help, coordinate interventions and promote best-value services while working with diverse partners.

The role requires Level 3 in Health and Social Care or related field, safeguarding knowledge and strong communication. You will travel across the city and participate in on-call rotas with a supportive team culture.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, Childcare, or related field.
  • Experience working with children, families or young people.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and local referral pathways.
  • Familiarity with multi-agency working (e.g. social services, schools, NHS).
  • Strong communication and listening skills; ability to build trust with families.
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills; organisational and record-keeping abilities.
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently with understanding of child development.
  • Awareness of social issues affecting families (poverty, domestic abuse, mental health).

Responsibilities

  • Promote the Council's vision, values, aims and priorities, delivering best value services.
  • Act as a Lead Professional for children, young people and families with diverse needs.
  • Facilitate Early Help Assessments and plans, coordinate interventions with other agencies.
  • Support agencies and families to bring lasting change and reduce dependency on public services.
  • Deliver personal and social development interventions for children and families and support young people 0-19 to progress through education into adulthood.

Salary: Starting Salary is £32,597 (Level 1) to £35,412 (Level 4) per annum (pro-rata for part-time) (Pay award pending)

About the Role
  • To promote the Council's vision, values, aims, objectives, and priorities actively and effectively, putting our citizens first through the delivery of best value services.
  • To act as a key worker and Lead Professional for children, young people and families with a range of needs.
  • To facilitate Early Help Assessments and plans, deliver appropriate interventions as well as coordinating interventions delivered by other agencies. Supporting children subject to Team around the Family, Child Protection, Child in Need, and Youth Justice Plans.
  • To support and offer professional challenge to agencies and families to bring about lasting change, to increase the resilience of the family and decrease dependencies on public services.
  • You will deliver quality personal and social development interventions for children and families and support young people 0-19, to move successfully through education into adulthood through targeted interventions.
  • Daily travel within and around the city is a key expectation of this role. This includes, but is not limited to, approximately 12 visits per week to family homes and schools, as well as travel to team meetings and training sessions as required
About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, Childcare, or a related field.
  • Experience working with children, young people, or families and knowledge of local services and referral pathways
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection.
  • Familiarity with multi-agency working (e.g. social services, schools, NHS)
  • Strong communication and listening skills and the ability to build trust and rapport with families.
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills along with organisational and record-keeping abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload with understanding of child development and parenting challenges.
  • Awareness of social issues affecting families (e.g. poverty, domestic abuse, mental health).

A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post

The role requires you to participate in the on call rota.
