Job summary

Walsall Council is recruiting a Family Help Support Worker within Children's Services on a fixed-term basis until March 2028. You will deliver practical and emotional support to children, young people and families, working with education, health and social care partners to create family-led plans and coordinated support across the borough.

You will assess needs, advocate for families and ensure safeguarding while maintaining confidential records and contributing to early intervention strategies.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, young people and families with diverse needs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to listen, show empathy and build trusting relationships.
• Good problem-solving skills to understand needs and propose practical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, outcome-focused support to children, young people and families.
• Conduct person-centred assessments of family needs and risks using approved tools.
• Develop, implement and review tailored family-led support plans.
• Act as Lead Professional coordinating family-led plans with partners.
• Provide direct practical and emotional support through sessions and group work.
• Support parents and carers to build parenting capacity and resilience.
• Facilitate access to universal, targeted and specialist services.
• Maintain accurate records of interventions and casework.
