Job summary

Herefordshire Council is hiring a permanent Social Worker for the Family Help service in Hereford. You will manage a caseload across Child in Need and Child Protection, carrying out comprehensive assessments, plans and reports within statutory timescales.

The role emphasizes partnership with families and multi‑agency colleagues to mitigate risk and drive lasting change, with the child’s voice at the center of every decision.

Qualifications

• A recognised Social Work qualification and current Social Work England registration.
• Experience in Children's Social Care with ASYE completed.
• Sound knowledge of Working Together to Safeguard Children and statutory processes.

Responsibilities

• Hold a caseload of children and families within the Family Help service, across CIN and CP.
• Complete high-quality assessments, plans and reports within statutory timescales.
• Collaborate with families and multi‑agency professionals to reduce risk and create lasting change.
• Attend strategy meetings, child protection conferences and core groups.
• Ensure the voice of the child is central to assessments and planning.
